The Levelling, 2016 - ★★★★

Run a farm in the lovely Somerset Levels, they said! It will be tranquil and relaxing in the countryside, they said! Not.

Set in the immediate aftermath of the real floods in the Somerset Levels (and using an authentically flood damaged farmhouse), this film deals with the aftermath of the death of Clover’s brother. She returns home from her veterinary studies to support her father, and try to get to the bottom of what happened. Did shoot himself accidentally, or did he deliberately take his own life?

It’s a grim setting, both physically and emotionally, but involving. It might also put you off ever running a farm, if you were considering it.
