A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Some books grab you the moment you start reading them, and this was one of those. I was immediately drawn into the world of the novel, and found the two main characters, former slave Pepper and AI Lovelace/Sidra, incredibly engaging.

The world is deep and convincing, optimistic without being utopian, and raises all kinds of interesting questions about what other species from other worlds would be like, and what it means to be yourself.

I’m doing it backwards, but I’m now really itching to read Becky Chamber’s previous novel, The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet’.
