The Ghosts of Amsterdam « How to be a Retronaut

This is wonderful and rather moving: Jo Teeuwisse found old photographs of people in Amsterdam around the end of the Second World War, and superimposed them over the same locations today. The photos showing the aftermath of the Germans opening fire on the crowd in Dam Square, just before their surrender is particularly moving, with the injured ghost figures stepping over spilt blood on the pavement, while shoppers today wander around with plastic bags.
